My Dad's Passing

Dad had a long life, 91 and a half years. He lived almost 3 years after mom passed away and was surrounded by the things that he enjoyed like garden food, baseball, and family even though his needs were more and more attended by Brenda, my sister, and Bill, her oldest. We visited him on his 90th and 91st birthdays and talked by Skype from time to time. Dad was not a church goer and his faith was not clear for all to see, but he did modify his beliefs in his last years and he let the hospice chaplain pray with him the last week. It was hard to see him suffer in the end, but I am so glad I was there to hold his hand, sing over him, and even carry him away. Grieving will take time, and part of this involves honor to a father who provided well for his children, spent hours playing games, and loved his immediate family. I'll miss you dad...
