Interlaken and Jungfrau

Our final big trip was to Interlaken and up to a town without autos called Mureen in the Jungfrau region. Once again the Swiss Rail connections were amazing going from regional train to boat to cog trains to cable cars etc. We could see the massive peaks peeking out between clouds and giving you a sense of the majestic.

Luzern and Mt Pilatus

Luzern is a unique city due to it's many towers, it's wooden bridge, it's painted murals and Mt. Pilatus so near. We chose a clear day and as we stepped out of the Baunhoff there was the steamer waiting to take us to the cog railway up Mt. Pilatus. A sunny summit, paragliders, a cross on one of the peaks, and more Alphorns made this a delightful day.

The Rhine River

After spending the night at the Three Kings in Chur we caught the train and connected with a river boat cruise on the Rhine out of the North side of Lake Kontanz. The water was low in the river so we had to take a bus at Stein on Rhine to bypass that portion and make it down to Rhine Falls.

Glacier Express and St. Moritz

Our next travel day was one that had to be reserved on the train. We did our best to pick a good weather day and we headed out early with a room rented at the other end of the country in Chur because of the lengthy time to travel. We were not disappointed even though it was quite a challenge to get good photos through the glare of the Glacier Express panoramic windows. Barbara remembers staying at this hotel in St. Moritz as a teenager!

Lausanne

Our feet were hurting and the weather was not the best so we decided to take a day off and poke around Lausanne. We ended up in Ouchy near the Olympic headquarters and enjoyed the market in Place de Maurice Bejart.
